Well, back to the cold after another succesful Australian / New Zealand tour…

So what happened? Usual sort of thing – gigs, beer, women ( 5 up on Kylie in the hotel shower…or maybe it was the owner’s dog, my memory is a bit hazy), posh hotels (1), sleezy hotels (many) and of course crocodile wrestling & sunburn.

Starting off in the Sydney area with jet lag & a new found fear of spiders, the Empire Hotel festival was the biggest gig and good to catch up with the Unemployed Super Villains. Thanks to Donny we also had a wild night in Newcastle – cheers mate.

Anti-Nowhere League in Australia

With Mouthguard in Brisbane ended the first leg & we had a day’s break to show off our board skills at Surfers Paradise…hmmm? before heading off to New Zealand…

…after eventually escaping from Christchurch Customs -  convinced that as a foreign rock band we had to be on and carrying drugs they searched and swabbed everything we had, only giving up the search when they saw the delight in Jez’s eyes as they put on the rubber gloves – time to say enough’s enough! – you can go! – all 3 gigs there did us proud (didn’t know what to expect), good turnout every night, which probably saved some local sheep from losing their virginity, great atmosphere & hospitality so thanks lads, must do it again!

Then on to the crazed world of Adelaide where the anger towards us for not turning up last time fuelled the aggression of the gig & all were happy at the end of the night & thanx to the generosity of the locals Steve the road manager & I were again jumped on by sniffer dogs at Melbourne airport – with nothing on us we blamed the smell on the Adelaide dressing room!

Melbourne ended the tour with a bang (& days of drooling over all the Harley shops). The people there like to party so 4 wild shows & a lot of after show drinking & was a pleasure to play & drink with Bastard Squad again. Someone said they saw Bono at the back of the audience muttering “Why didn’t anyone dance at my gig” to himself, but they were drunk…& so was I!

‘Til the next time,
Shady

As usual ours was the easy job – just to turn up & play, so many thanx to all the organizers – Paul, Kev & all his sponsors, Julia, Donny & Stu in Melbourne for keeping us in order & out of jail.
Cheers,

ANWL
